台灣海洋記錄小品：『蘭嶼Ponso no Tao：人之島』
蘭嶼，又名Ponso no Tao。在達悟族的語言中，意思為人之島。
Orchid Island also called Ponso no Tao. In Tao’s langue, the aboriginal here, Ponso no Tao means island of man.
Orchid Island located in southeast Taiwan. There is a warm current called Kuroshio (Black Tide or Japan Current) surrounded the island. This strong western boundary current has low nutrient concentrations and low density of living organisms and the low biomass is the reason why the water here is so clear. This island is an island of volcanic origin, so you can not only see the breathtaking terrain on the island but underwater.
Except the magnificent underwater view, you may also interest in shipwreck. The Korean cargo ship encountered a bad weather in 1983 and now sleeps soundly on the 38-meter-deep seabed. This remote island has few pollutions and constructions so the environment and aboriginal culture have been preserved quite well. It’s definitely qualified enough to be on your visiting list.
